The "Cover Me Up" singer canceled his upcoming show at ParkStage in Freehold, New Jersey, on Friday, July 31. Three additional shows have also been rescheduled for a later date.
So what gives? We have the details below.
The Jason Isbell Show Cancellation Was "Due to Unforeseen Circumstances"
Isbell was set to perform with his backing band, the 400 Unit. Patty Griffin was scheduled to open the show.
But fans looking for reasons for the singer's sudden cancellation won't find a good answer on the venue's website. It offered ticketholders a boilerplate statement.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, JASON ISBELL & THE 400 UNIT scheduled for Friday, July 31st at ParkStage has been canceled. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
"Refunds will be issued automatically to the original payment method used to purchase your tickets. No further action is required; the refund will be processed directly through your point of purchase.
"We hope to see you at another show soon."
Three More Shows Were Rescheduled
Another Isbell show scheduled yesterday at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts, was moved to Sep. 4.
A concert date at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia, scheduled for tomorrow, July 30, has been rescheduled for Aug. 20. Saturday's show at the Berglund Performing Arts Theatre in Roanoke, Virginia, has been moved to Aug. 19.
No official explanation has been given for the rescheduled dates, and Isbell has not currently shared any news on his social media channels.
A visit to Isbell's subreddit reveals that some ticketholders haven't even been notified of the new dates. Fans have speculated that someone in the band may be sick.
Isbell's situation certainly feels much different than Musgraves' recent cancellations. She is reportedly in good health, but who knows? It could be a severe case of "blue dot fever." That's when artists cancel shows because ticket sales are lacking.
