Shockwaves were sent around the NFL world when it was reported that Mia Bieniemy, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was allegedly shot by their son, Elijah. The incident occurred at the family's Virginia home on Sunday night.

Andy Reid addressed the shooting involving Mia on Monday and provided a positive update on her health status.
When speaking to reporters at the team's training camp in Missouri, Reid acknowledged that it was a difficult situation to discuss. Still, the three-time Super Bowl champion expressed his support for his longtime assistant and his wife.
"Our hearts go out to Eric Bieniemy and his family," Reid said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them." He added that Eric had a strong support system surrounding him. "He's got a great support group here, as does his family."
Mia was struck at least twice during the incident. She suffered injuries to her arm and torso. Reid stated that she is in stable condition.
"Mia is stable, which is a plus," Reid said. "I can't get into details on it."
The shooting reportedly occurred at the family's Virginia home shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Their youngest son, 27-year-old Elijah Bieniemy, was arrested following the incident. He is charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony (first offense) and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling.
Elijah Bienemy Could Serve Lengthy Jail Sentence
Elijah Bieniemy was arrested and transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he was held without bond, police said.
According to Virginia law, Bieniemy could face up to 33 years in prison if found guilty on all three counts. The most severe charge is malicious wounding, a Class 3 felony punishable by a minimum of five years and maximum of 20 years in prison.
Each of those charges also carries a possible $100,000 fine.
According to online court records, Bieniemy was arraigned Monday morning and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Aug. 31.
Reid also shared that Eric would be stepping away from the team temporarily amid the investigation.
Bienemy signed a multiyear contract to rejoin the Chiefs as the offensive coordinator, the same role he carried from 2018 to 2022.
Star tight end Travis Kelce celebrated his return.
"I think it's great," he said on his "New Heights" podcast. "I can't wait to see him back in the building. He's one of my favorite coaches of all time. I've had so many unbelievable growing moments under him as a player."
During his initial five-year run as the Chiefs' coordinator, the offense finished no lower than sixth in points per game.
