Spring break is supposed to be one of the grandest times for college students. So many parties, so many life-changing experiences. It's even better when you get big-time performances from your favorite artists. However, the young adults at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas had their plans drastically changed due to an insane explosion on campus grounds.

One key attraction was the start of the 2025 Neon Moon Tour with Brooks & Dunn. However, the aftermath of the campus incident sees them having to postpone their gig. Recently, Texas Tech announced on their Instagram story that anyone with tickets could get their refund at the point of purchase if necessary. However, the current plans see the country duo return on March 20th once the explosion incident is resolved. In the meantime, Brooks and Dunn still plan on performing in Austin and Corpus Christi, Texas, shows, accordingly.
Texas Tech Campus Explosion Postpones Brooks & Dunn Concert
Associated Press reports the details of what happened on the Texas Tech campus. A chemical explosion bursts out of a maintenance hole, setting off fires and power outages. Green flames would burst out of manholes in cartoonishly apocalyptic fashion. Student Robert Gauthreaux III explained his experience while he was on campus during the incident. "I heard an explosion and then saw a smoke ring, almost like a cartoon or something," he explains. "It traveled about 200 feet in the air."
Consequently, authorities for the school send students home early for an extended spring break. Thankfully, no one was injured by the incident. Currently, there's no word on what exactly caused the explosion. But deputy chief of Lubbock Fire Rescue Nick Wilson lends a little insight into why the flames and smoke were different colors. He emphasizes that the varying metals like copper burning would explain it. Moreover, he says it will take some time before they know the exact cause.
