'American Idol' Singer Reveals Major Regret He Has with Miley Cyrus

When speaking with PEOPLE, David admitted that he does have one regret from his time filming on 'Hannah Montana'

David Archuleta once featured in an episode of Hannah Montana. The American Idol alum recently attended the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premiere at the El Capitan Theater. When speaking with PEOPLE at the event, David admitted that he does have one regret from his time filming on the show.

"Oh gosh, I would say you should go have sushi with Miley when she invited you," David said. ""I just wrote a book and I talk about Hannah Montana, and there was this moment where Miley invited me to get sushi with them and I said, 'No, it's okay.' So I would say, 'Go have sushi with Miley.' "

David's appearance came in season three of the hit kids' show. He performed a duet with Miley Cyrus during the episode, singing "I Wanna Know You."

Interestingly, David revealed that he's still approached about the episode when fans of the show recognize him.

"It's wild that it's been 20 years," he said. "was only on one episode and the song, and all these years later people still love it and remember it. People still come up to me and say, 'I loved your episode of Hannah Montana.'"

David finished as the runner-up on season seven of American Idol. He was 16 years old at the time of the compeition.

Miley Cyrus Has Fond Memories of 'Hannah Montana'

During a recent conversation with podcaster Alex Cooper of Call Her Daddy, Miley admitted that Hannah Montana holds a special place in her heart, primarily because of how it brought her family together.

"I don't know if our reality would be the same without the show, for better or for worse. No family really gets to experience what we had," she said, per PEOPLE.

Miley then continued by sharing her excitement to be at the premier of the 20th anniversary show, and what it means to both her and the fans that she's on good terms with Billy Ray Cyrus.

"I'm really excited for him to be here because I know how much our relationship means to everyone that watched the show. I think that when me and my dad are good, people, they feel better," she said. "It just feels good when the Cyruses are getting along."

The one-off special of Hannah Montana aired on Disney+ on Tuesday, March 24, and will undoubtedly be a popular show on the streaming giant for months, if not years to come.
