"The singer, 77, was performing "Dancing on the Ceiling" at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minn., when he took a seat on a platform, the four-time Grammy Award winner telling the crowd that he was feeling dizzy and that he'd never previously performed the song sitting," per the Minnesota Star Tribune.

Lionel didn't abruptly cancel his show, though. He informed the crowd of his struggles as he sat down at a piano while performing "Three Times A Lady."

"When you're feeling dizzy, sit your ass down," he said.

After finishing his song, Lionel left the stage, leaving the recorded music to play. As the intermission reached the 40-minute mark, his saxophonist, Dino Soldo, took to the stage to explain that Lionel was feeling unwell and was unable to continue with his performance.

Currently, there's no further information regarding Lionel's situation, and whether he's feeling better or not. His next performance is scheduled for Friday, June 26, in Chicago. At present, the show appears to be going ahead.

Fans React to Lionel Richie Cutting His Concert Short

"These artists like him and Rod Stewart are not spring chickens anymore as long as they sing I don't care if they sit in a carousel lol," one user wrote, pointing out Lionel's advancing age.

Another user noted that they were happy Lionel put his health first by opting to end the show.

"I'm glad he came to the realization that he should just stop the show," the fan wrote. "Hopefully it was just dehydration or something simple like that."

At present, Lionel hasn't spoken of the issue, however, it's likely he will address the fans in attendance at some point in the near future.
