An emergency call was made by a concerned neighbor of the American Idol contestant, as they saw him wandering the streets. He was looking remarkably unwell, and they were worried about his health. After a wellness check, Kiker was taken to a nearby hospital.
Here, the American Idol contestant stayed until his death five days later. Initially, his cause of death was under investigation. However, it has now been revealed that it was a cocktail of drugs that led to an overdose.
According to the report, he had a combination of "fentanyl, methadone and amphetamines, with recent cocaine use." The heavy drug use resulted in a massive heart attack. He has left behind a number of grieving family members.

Angela, shared a heartfelt memorial on Facebook. "It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of my brother Douglas Kiker he was sooo loved and will be missed by so many! You're singing with the Angel's now Bubba Please pray for our family as we go threw this very difficult time."His brother also spoke out, commemorating his brother's life. "Dear brother I just want you to know that [no] matter where you are you will always be my baby brother I know you are finally at piece I just wish I had more time with you so until I can see you again say hey to bubba for me and tell him I love him rest in peace Douglas Kiker my baby brother."
Douglas Kiker made it through to the Hollywood stages of American Idol before being voted off. It's a shame he didn't take that success further.
