It's way too early for me to be writing about such a tearjerker. John Foster performed an original and heartbreaking song on American Idol on Sunday, and it's only solidified his place as a country artist that's here to stay.

Recently, there has been a rise in the country crowd appreciating the classic sound in new artists. Zach Top goes without saying, but then comes John Foster, an American Idol contestant that's turning a lot of heads.
His classic country voice is a beautiful one, but one that was laced with tragedy when he performed an original song on the latest episode. "Tell That Angel I Love Her" is a song he penned about his dear friend who died in a car crash in 2023.
Maggie Dunn was killed when a police car rammed into her car after running a red light while on a high-speed chase. It's a tragedy he'll likely never get over.
"Tell That Angel I Love Her" is a heartbreaking song that he sang perfectly. He wrote the song the same year she was killed, seven months later. Yet the grief is as fresh as it was on that devastating day.
You can listen to the performance below.
