Caleb Flynn, a former American Idol contestant, is accused of murdering his wife and fabricating the cause of her death.

Entangled in a love triangle that included a mistress, Flynn allegedly sent his lover multiple texts foreshadowing his plan to kill his wife, according to Ohio prosecutors.
"I was up until 4 a.m. last night crying. Literally trying to think of ways to kill her and not go to jail," read one of thousands of messages he allegedly sent to his mistress in the year before Ashley Flynn, 37, was found shot dead in her bed in February.
The American Idol alum is also accused of texting his mistress: "I choose you. I'm free. Actions will come tomorrow, February 16. A day I'll never forget."

During the second day of his Ohio murder trial, the disgraced singer broke down in tears as the court showed images of his late wife's body after she was cleaned. The image was taken in order "to show the facial identity of the decedent," according to the New York Post.
"Besides her identity, that photo also depicts a large open fracture of the frontal skull. That's the result of two bullets exiting the head," the coroner said. "Her left eye appears somewhat blackened. Like it's bruised" in the picture.
Flynn began sobbing as the coroner detailed the gut-wrenching photos.
Flynn told 911 operators that a burglar broke into the couple's home and shot his wife on the night of her killing.
On Monday, several law enforcement officers took the witness stand and expressed doubt about the claim's validity.
Holly Ryczek, a crime scene technician from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations, testified that the garage door — along with all other entrances to the home — showed no signs of forced entry.
"Typically, with doors with forced entry, you'll observe marking on the outside of the door. If someone uses bodily force. Like kicking or using some kind of object to force open the door, you'll get marks on the face of the door. If someone tried to pry a door open, you'll see tool marks," Ryczek explained to jurors.
Caleb has been charged with murder, aggravated murder and felonious assault. He is also charged with tampering with evidence and witness intimidation, according to his online court records.
The disgraced singer pleaded not guilty to all charges.
His mistress has not been charged with any crimes, PEOPLE reported, citing authorities.
