Here's another reason to love your Amazon Prime membership: If you shop at Whole Foods stores, you can now get additional discounts on groceries and other items with your Prime account. Amazon has been rolling the discount program out over the last few weeks, starting in Florida in May and slowly adding new locations. Starting Wednesday, June 27, the Amazon Prime Whole Foods discount will be available at all Whole Foods Market and Whole Foods Market 365 stores nationwide.
Prime customers get an extra 10 percent off sale items (look for the little yellow signs). They also get special Prime member deals on select items (look for the blue signs). One note, the new Prime discount is not available for alcohol purchases.
"Since launching Prime savings at Whole Foods Market, we've seen excitement and momentum from both Prime members and our supplier partners," said A.C. Gallo, Whole Foods Market's president and COO in the announcement about the nationwide expansion. "Our weekly Prime member deals are a hit and we're excited that Prime members across the U.S. will now be able to take advantage of these savings in our stores."
Here are a few of the deals Prime members can get starting June 27:
- Baby back pork ribs, animal welfare rated and no antibiotics, $4.99/lb., save $5/lb.
- Sockeye salmon, wild caught Marine Stewardship Council-certified, $13.99/lb., save $6/lb.
- Organic red cherries, $3.99/lb., save $2/lb.
- Organic yellow peaches, $1.99/lb., save $2/lb.
- Mochi ice cream, including flavors like chocolate, salted caramel, and green tea, self-serve, 5/$5
- All bulk items, including favorites like nuts, granola, dried fruit, and hundreds more, 25 percent off
- Organic Honest Lemonade, 32 oz., 2/$3
There are two ways to activate your Amazon Prime Whole Foods discount. The first is to download the Whole Foods app, sign in with your Amazon account, then scan the app's Prime Code when you check out. Or you can enter the mobile phone number connected to your Amazon Prime account during the checkout process.
Amazon says that the new discount program has been popular with Prime members in the locations where it's available.
"Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive—in fact, Prime members have adopted this benefit at one of the fastest rates we've seen," Cem Sibay, Amazon Prime's vice president, said in the announcement. "Since starting this rollout in mid-May, Prime members have already saved millions of dollars."
If you're an Amazon Prime member in one of the cities like Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Denver, and Richmond where Amazon offers Prime Now two-hour delivery from Whole Foods, you can also get the new Prime discount when shopping through Prime Now.
