Alex Miller might just be the most heartwarming Idol hopeful on this season of ABC's American Idol. Before taking on the "genre challenge" at the beginning of Hollywood Week, the 17-year-old country singer gifted his fellow contestant, 16-year-old Cameron McGhar, her very own personalized belt buckle after she earned her golden ticket courtesy of Katy Perry and Luke Bryan.

"Alex has a little belt buckle that has his name on it and I told him in San Diego that I loved it," McGhar recalled in an Idol segment.

She smiled wide when she opened up the package from Miller exclaiming "I love it!" Miller was pleased with himself, pointing out that he even spelled her name correctly. He admitted later that his reasoning behind the thoughtful gift was quite simple. "Because I like her."

As if Miller couldn't be more adorable, he really impressed all three of the judges with his cover of "Freeborn Man" by Jimmy Martin. The Kentucky native explained before his performance, "I wanna prove that a small-town boy can do just about anything." Can't argue with that logic!

All three American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie were impressed by the young contestant who was one of a few country music singers able to move on to the next round. Caleb Kennedy, Drake McCain, and Cecil Ray, in addition to Miller, all moved forward leaving behind other hopefuls including Chayce Beckham. Even Kellyanne Conway's pop singing daughter Claudia Conway moved on. Unfortunately, Cameron McGhar did not impress the judges with her cover of "Stay" by Sugarland so, the Alabama teen was sent back home. At least she made a friend in Alex Miller! Hopefully, the two stay in touch as the competition keeps going.
