Usually, a newborn is around 5 to 8 pounds. But, an Alabama mother has managed to give birth to an enormous 13 pound, 4-ounce daughter, wowing the nurses.

14 days before the child was born, Pamela Mann, 31, went into hospital for a C-section. As the nurses pulled her daughter from her, they stood back in awe. "The doctor pulls her out of me, and all the nurses are like, 'Oh god! Wow," the new mother told Today.
This alarmed Pamela Mann. She wanted everything to be okay with her newborn daughter. "I started freaking out because I had no idea what was happening," she went on to say. But she had nothing to worry about; the Alabama mother had simply given birth to one of the biggest babies the nurses had ever seen.
At over 13 pounds, this new mother had a real line backer on her hands. Even the medical staff who had been monitoring her pregnancy were surprised.
Nobody Expected Such A Big Baby
Apart from a little low blood sugar, Mann's new baby was fit and healthy. She had been monitored throughout the pregnancy, and nothing had seemed to indicate that she would be such a unit.
During the lead up to her C-section, nurses had done the usual scans. Her daughter had been around eight pounds only a week before. I don't know what the mother had been feeding her a month before the birth, but it worked wonders.
The mother said that after her daughter was born, she didn't even realise 13 pounds was such a big deal. "I thought 13 pounds was normal. This is my first child, so I had no idea. And the nurses are going, "No, no, no. She is big!"
Now, her new big bundle of joy needs a name, and a few ideas are circling. Some of the better ones are Pork Chop, Big Momma, and Star. The former are self-explanatory, but the latter is due to her fame. Nurses are coming from all over the hospital to witness the biggest baby most of them have ever seen.
Thank goodness it was a C-section. A natural birth would have been a real mission for the mother.
