When you're on social media, it's really, really important to stay informed. Scams are everywhere these days. But, it's an inevitability that people doing wrong eventually get caught. And, luckily for everyone, an Alabama criminal branded the "TikTok Trickster" has finally been arrested. According to Dexerto, this comes after a two-year manhunt to uncover his identity and track him down.
The "TikTok Trickster" had his mask ripped off in Spanish Fort, Alabama. He was finally identified as 57-year-old Brenton Fillers. He's been accused of using social media as a deceiving tactic, stealing money and property from women over a period of at least two years.
Arguably, his most sickening stunt was stealing a car from a woman named Tricia. Fillers posed as actor Jason Mitchell and began commenting on her TikTok posts. They eventually decided to meet up in person. After spending a few days together, "Jason Mitchell" said that he was going to take her car to be repaired. She never saw him again.
He was originally arrested in North Carolina in April over other charges. But he's now been extradited and now faces two counts of illegal possession of a credit card and theft of property. Police have said they believe the "TikTok Trickster" has "used dozens of aliases in multiple states over several decades."

Other Women Have Come Forward As Victims of the "TikTok Trickster"
Tricia was unfortunately not the only woman impacted by the "TikTok Trickster". As reported by Fox 10 News, an anonymous Indiana woman also came forward about how she was scammed.
Fillers used a different alias for this woman: "Jason Aldridge". He built a relationship with her over TikTok and offered "credible" explanations to any questions or concerns she had. She explained, "He is really good at what he does. Every time I questioned him, he had an answer and said, 'You can look it up.'"
She said that she sent over $30,000 through money transfer apps like Venmo to Fillers over a period of 10 months. She said he made up "emergencies" like a bleeding ulcer and brain cancer, and that he was in the hospital. "That's really how he got a lot out of me. He didn't want to eat their food, and he didn't bring his wallet."
We are glad he has been apprehended and hope that justice will be served.
