Plane Crazy: Passenger Ditches Flight, Steals Airport Vehicle and Goes on Wild Ride

The 26-year-old passenger had reportedly booked a Delta Air Lines flight to Seattle when he suddenly took an unexpected detour.

He allegedly left the terminal, gained access to the airfield and stole an Alaska Airlines tug before crashing it into another vehicle.

Continuing his rampage, the passenger then allegedly attempted to take control of an American Airlines lavatory service truck.

Airport Passenger Arrested After Security Breach

Airport Police Services officers caught up with the passenger as he attempted to board the American Airlines truck, bringing his chaotic escapade to an end.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. local time. Authorities identified the suspect as Skyler Barr, 26, of Everett, Washington.

Investigators say Barr breached security at Gate 12 to access the airfield before making his way toward Gate 7, where officers eventually detained him.

"Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior, and we take all incidents seriously," Delta Air Lines said in a statement.

"Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our customers and people, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement."

Following his detention, authorities transported Barr to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Police subsequently arrested him on suspicion of vehicle theft, trespassing and vandalism.

Air Traffic Control Audio Captures Airport Chaos

Barr could face criminal penalties as the case moves through the legal system, although authorities have yet to announce any formal charges.

The security breach briefly disrupted airport operations, with officials inspecting the affected area for debris before allowing aircraft movements to resume.

Air traffic control audio also captured the confusion surrounding the incident, including an exchange between a pilot and a controller.

"Hey, ground ... just out of curiosity, do you know what's going on with the vehicles behind us with all of law enforcement?," the pilot was recorded saying.

The air traffic controller responded, "Yeah, it looks like someone stole a tug, a security breach at the airport ... so they put a ground stop in effect."

Despite the unusual circumstances, airport officials eventually gave the all-clear, allowing flights to continue following the temporary disruption.
