Adam Sandler Praises Bad Bunny Following Controversial Super Bowl Halftime Show

Bad Bunny made heads turn with his Super Bowl halftime performance. Here's what his fellow 'Happy Gilmore 2' star had to say about it.

On Sunday at the Super Bowl, Bad Bunny gave a halftime performance that drew both controversy and high praise.

The performance followed Bad Bunny's speech at the Grammy Awards, where he called out ICE.

"Before I say thanks to God, I'm going to say ICE out," he said while accepting the award for Best Musica Urbana Album. "We're not savage, we're not animals, we're not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans."

He continued, "The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don't hate them. We love our people."

The Bunny's Super Bowl performance heavily referenced Puerto Rican culture and also focused on the "love is more powerful than hate" theme. Actor Adam Sandler, for one, was in full support.

Adam Sandler and Bad Bunny Talk Meeting for the First Time

For those that don't know, Adam Sander and Bad Bunny actually worked together when filming Happy Gilmore 2 in late 2024. It was through filming the movie that the two grew to respect each other.

However, the first time they actually met was while they were both watching a Lakers game. On the Late Night Show with Seth Meyers, Sandler and Bad Bunny talked about the moment when they realized they were in the same room.

"I was with my daughter, right? And she started hitting me. She's going, 'That's Bad Bunny. That's Bad Bunny.' I go, 'Where? Where, where, where?' And then, and then we locked eyes, and I gave you some love across the court."

Bad Bunny shared, "Bro, I was a little tipsy. ... Oh, my God, I was with my best friend. He continued,"When he did the like eye contact with me and said, 'Hi' — Bro, I — I cried. I cried. I cried."

Bad Bunny has been a longtime Sandler fan. He even told Seth Meyer, talking about Happy Gilmore, "I think I have watched every version, even Japanese."

It's always cool to see celebrities supporting each other doing their thing.
