Actress Recalls Faceplanting at a Led Zeppelin Concert

Before she was starring in films like My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Jingle All the Way, actress Rita Wilson was just any other teen. And of course, that came with its share of embarrassing moments.

During a recent sit-down with The Sunday Times, Wilson recalled going to a Led Zeppelin concert with her friends when she was 16 years old. A memory that remains fresh in her head largely due to an embarrassing moment.

Rita recalled being so fanned out and stoked for the concert that she faceplanted on the ground before they even got into the venue.

"I was 16 and went with two girlfriends. My mom had made my outfit: Hawaiian-print bell-bottom trousers and a crop top," she recalled to the outlet (via PEOPLE). "I wore cork-wedged sandals. We were so excited that we started running from the [parking lot] towards the venue, and you just do not run in wedge sandals. I faceplanted on the pavement."

The Sleepless in Seattle actress said that she accepted that there was no redeeming herself after taking a tumble outside of the venue. But even after her ego took a hit, she was still able to enjoy an "incredible" Led Zeppelin performance.

"Anything that looked cool went straight out of the window," she added. "Nothing was damaged except my ego, and the concert was incredible."

Wilson Opens Up About Her Music Career

Even after appearing in several hit movies throughout her acting career, Wilson was still unsatisfied. She eventually tried her hand at music herself. Wilson's debut album AM/FM was released in 2012. She cited Nora Ephron as one of her biggest inspirations in testing the waters so late in her career.

"[Nora Ephron] said, 'I'm here to tell you that great things happen after the age of 50,'" Wilson said. "It was so inspiring to me. I never forgot that when I started getting into music, because I was in my 50s — if Nora did it, I could do it."

And while she admits that she may not have the talent level of some of the bigger pop artists, she still has a lot to offer from a different perspective.

"I don't think that Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter have anything to worry about. I'm not coming for them," Wilson said to PEOPLE. "But I have things that I can say that are different than the things that they may want to say."
