What Happened to the "How I Met Your Mother" Star?
Shehorn described what happened between her and the How I Met Your Mother actor to the jury last month. She took the stand at the San Fernando Courthouse with visible scars on her arms and neck.
"I locked the door, and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open," she testified. "And I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there's another lock on that door."
Shehorn was then discovered by her surrogate mother around 4:30 a.m. A week later, Pasqual was caught trying to leave the country. He was found in Texas, near the Mexican border, on May 30, 2024.
Shehorn's surrogate mother said she was in complete shock about what had happened. "This is not the kind of thing that should happen to anybody," she said. "You don't think this is ever going to happen to you."
Pasqual was found guilty on May 8, 2026.
What Is Nick Pasqual's Sentence?
At yesterday's sentencing hearing, Pasqual was sentenced to 32 years to life in prison. Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman praised Shehorn in a statement.
"Allie Shehorn miraculously survived and courageously stood before her abuser in court to testify about the brutality she endured," he said. "Her trial testimony was crucial in securing a guilty verdict so Mr. Pasqual could no longer be free to hurt anyone else."
Entertainment Weekly reports that the How I Met Your Mother actor is appealing the ruling.
"I remain deeply saddened by everything surrounding this case, and I continue to wish healing and peace for everyone affected," he said in a statement. "I am grateful to those who have supported me during this process, and I intend to remain focused on sobriety, recovery, accountability, and a respectful appellate process moving forward."
In addition How I Met Your Mother, Pasqual also starred in Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire and Jobs.
