For any fan, getting a chance to meet a celebrity is a moment most won't forget. Well, for one rideshare driver in Los Angeles, they will never forget the time they met Sutherland, as the actor is being accused of assaulting the driver around 12:15 a.m. near Sunset Boulevard. When receiving a call about the incident, police arrived at the scene, eventually taking Sutherland into custody.

While an investigation remains ongoing, LAPD officials stated they booked the actor for making criminal threats. "The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a rideshare vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim. Officers arrested Sutherland at the scene for Criminal Threats."

Not Kiefer Sutherland's First Assault Charge

According to reports, the rideshare driver did not sustain any injuries from the altercation. As for Sutherland, he was released on a $50,000 bond. He will return to the Los Angeles Superior Court on February 2 for his first court appearance.

Although many details are unknown at this time, this wasn't the first time Sutherland found himself accused of assault. Back in May 2009, the actor head-butted Jack Mcollough after attending the Met Gala. Charged with third-degree assault, Sutherland released a formal apology, reading, "I am sorry about what happened that night and sincerely regret that Mr. McCollough was injured."

Not pushing forward with the charges, McCollough looked to move past the incident, only stating, "I appreciate Mr. Sutherland's statement and wish him well."

For now, Sutherland awaits his day in court, as questions remain surrounding the incident and its potential legal consequences.
