News of Duong's passing was shared on Saturday, March 28, via his GoFundMe page.
Hilarie Steele confirmed the heartbreaking update, writing: "With the heaviest hearts, we share that our dear Alex passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by love and dear friends. He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain."
Steele added that Duong's wife, Christina, and the couple's five-year-old daughter, Everest, were able to spend time with him before his passing.
He was conscious enough to say goodbye to his daughter, "whom he has treasured every moment since the day she was born."
The message described a family "devastated" by the loss. It also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they received.
As of March 30, the fundraiser had reached $122,000, surpassing its original $95,000 goal.
Duong's Final Days and Health Battle
Steele said a "beautiful celebration of his life" will be planned in the coming weeks.
Just a day before his passing, an update revealed that Duong had gone into septic shock. He was "fighting for his life," prompting an urgent call for donations to cover mounting medical expenses.
Duong's health struggles had intensified over time. According to the LA Times, he began experiencing severe headaches behind his eyes in 2021. He initially believed they were related to vision issues.
However, his manager noticed something more serious, recalling that his left eye appeared as though it might "fall out," urging him to seek immediate medical attention.
Doctors later diagnosed him with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma after tumors began pressing against his brain, triggering seizures.
As the illness progressed, Duong lost vision in his left eye and endured repeated hospital stays for chemotherapy.
Despite the fight, the disease ultimately took his life, marking a tragic end to a promising career and a life deeply cherished by those around him.
