Linda Perry is not happy with Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong. According to Perry, Joe had contacted her about working together on a follow-up to their hit track "American Idiot." However, as news of Perry's involvement in making the song leaked, Green Day's fanbase reacted negatively, citing her work in the pop industry.

Unfortunately for Perry, that pushback was enough to cut her time working with the band short. The problem is, Billie Joe, or any other member of Green Day, didn't convey that message to her. Instead, the band reportedly cut contact, essentially ghosting her.
"I had a full calendar and canceled six months of work to do it," Perry told NME. "I met with Billie Joe [Armstrong], and we talked for three hours [...] Like every artist, I think he had got to a point where you feel like I have nothing to say and need help - there's a therapy aspect to producing too. Then Courtney blabbed her mouth that I was producing. Suddenly they started getting backlash from their fans, upset they were 'bringing in Linda Perry, who produced Pink and Christina Aguilera'."
As Perry continued, she revealed that she'd cleared a six-month block in her schedule. Due to how Green Day handled the situation, Perry lost half a year's worth of work.
"And then those guys just stopped calling me," Perry continued. "I would reach out to figure out what was going on. Nobody called. I lost six months of scheduled work. That was f****d up, all because Billie Joe's a little p***y and got all this backlash from his fans and didn't like it."
Linda Perry Also Clapped Back at the Denial From Green Day
Shortly after the news that Perry would be working with Green Day leaked, the band denied that she had ever been tasked with helping on their new song. Perry, though, has clapped back at that denial, taking special aim at Billie Joe.
"Whatever! I'm good with it, but it was harsh and rude to do that," Perry continued. "Just call me and say, 'Hey, we're going to go a different way. I'm not digging this backlash we're getting'. Just balls-up, man. Not returning my calls was such a p***y move, and I lost a lot of respect for Billie Joe."
Ultimately, Green Day pressed ahead with the song, which is believed to be "21st Century Breakdown." Interestingly, that wasn't even the most popular song on their album (which went by the same name). "Last Night On Earth" wound up being the premier track, with over 245.8 million plays on Spotify.
