ABC is pushing back against reports that the 24th season of the famed late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live will apparently be the last. The network released a statement denying reports that the popular show is ending.

The network wrote, "This information is inaccurate - any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative."
They're responding to a report by the New York Post's Page Six, which allegedly spoke with a source close to the situation. That source claimed that Kimmel's contract is "not getting renewed," once it expires after this coming May.
ABC Reportedly Set to Move on From Jimmy Kimmel
The reports of the cancellation, of course, led to a bevy of reactions from Kimmel's fans on social media.
"Can't stand his show but d--n...24 years is impressive," one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Idk I just feel like Wig and his administration have something to do with this," a second user chimed in.
"A great day for America, moment of unity. Horseshoe theory but just for this," a third user remarked.
Network Slams 'Inaccurate' Report
However, ABC is sticking by its statement, insisting that it is all just speculation. So are they just playing the cards close to their chest? Only the future will tell.
One important thing to remember about the future of the program is that Kimmel has a significant decision to make as well. Even if ABC were to decide to bring him back, Kimmel would have to decide if he wants to sign another long-term contract with the network. Kimmel previously spoke about his expiring contract back in 2024. And even back then, he was skeptical about the chances of him filming more episodes after his current contract expired.
"I think this is my final contract, I hate to even say it, because everyone's laughing at me now — each time I think that, and then it turns out to be not the case," Kimmel told the Los Angeles Times in February 2024 (via Parade). "I still have a little more than two years left on my contract, and that seems pretty good, that seems like enough."
