George Strait is one of the most influential country artists in history. With a career spanning over 35 years, his music has become the soundtrack to our lives. Now, with the upcoming release of Strait Out Of The Box: Part 2, fellow musicians are paying tribute to The King of Country Music.

Fellow Texan Aaron Watson supplies a fresh and modern take on traditional country music. When he was asked by Strait’s record label to cover one of the legend’s hit songs, there was only one easy choice.

“Being from Amarillo, TX and loving a great rodeo song, I couldn’t think of a better song than “Amarillo By Morning,” Watson wrote. He went on to say he “literally grew up on” the song, which has been in his life since he was a little boy.

“Congrats George, you’ve been a huge influence and I appreciate all you have done for country music and Texas,” he continued. “It’s an honor to sing this song.”

It’s easy to hear George’s influence on Aaron’s sound, in both this stellar, true-to-the-original cover and his own solo releases.
