PEOPLE reported that the 84-year-old lifestyle mogul discussed the upcoming film at an April 14 screening of a documentary in New York City.
Who Is Playing Martha Stewart?
The film is reportedly being directed by Janicza Bravo, who previously helmed the indie film Zola.
Stewart said she heard rumors about the film, reportedly titled Good Thing, after her signature phrase, "It's a good thing."
Stewart also heard that Cate Blanchett may be playing the media personality. The Australian actress has won two Academy Awards for acting. She took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for her portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator. She then won the Best Actress award for her role in the Woody Allen film Blue Jasmine in 2013.
Stewart Has Led a Full, Interesting Life
While she is famous for her television career, Stewart began her career as a model at age 15. Her first television commercial, for Unilever, led to more ads and magazine work during her teenage years and early adulthood.
After finishing high school, Stewart attended Barnard College, graduating with a double major in European history and architecture. During college, she met her now ex-husband. After their marriage, she became a stockbroker, following in her father-in-law's footsteps. The couple moved to Westport, Connecticut, and in the early years of their marriage, restored an 1805 farmhouse on Turkey Hill, which inspired the Martha Stewart Living set.
Later, Stewart and a friend started a catering business. After providing the food at a book release party hosted by her husband, she wrote her debut, Entertaining. Along with countless other books, Martha Stewart launched the magazine Martha Stewart Living and then created a half-hour television program of the same name. She later appeared on numerous TV shows, including NBC's Today. She also launched a home decor line at Kmart and eventually started her own business.
In 2003, Stewart was indicted for insider trading, resulting in a five-month prison sentence. In the years since, she has also developed a friendship with rapper Snoop Dogg.
Whether her relationship with the "Drop It Like It's Hot" artist will be featured in the biopic is unknown, but we hope it is.
