‘A Christmas Story’ Star Dies at 79

Tedde Moore has sadly passed away at the age of 79. She was best known for her role of Miss Sheilds in A Christmas Story.

her Facebook page.

"On Wednesday August 5th under sunny skies overlooking Fairy Lake, Tedde passed away surrounded by family physically and spiritually in her beloved Huntsville Muskoka," the statement said. "Her bravery in this choice was almost overwhelming, beyond beautiful and also difficult."

The statement continued by praising Moore's personality and the impact she had one those around her.

"Forever the teacher, she had a quote for every occasion and a special way of touching the lives and hearts of everyone she met. Her magic and love will be remembered by all she took under her generous and welcoming wings."

Moore was always proud of her role within A Christmas Story. In a video posted to YouTube back in 2021, she shared a heartfelt message with fans of the movie.

"I just wanted to tell you how much it has meant to me to be part of the 'Christmas Story' family," she said. "None of us would be here today if it weren't for the gigantic heart of Bob Clark and who had the very good sense to recognize the cinematic quality of the extraordinary heartfelt writing of Jean Shepherd."

Moore continued by admitting that she still had a close relationship with the cast.

"The fact that the boys and I, and yes I still call them the boys, are still friends after nearly 40 years, still family, has everything to do with heart, because that's how Bob chose his actors." 

Tedde Moore Appeared Held 40 Acting Credits to Her Name

While Moore will be best remembered for her role in A Christmas Story, it wasn't her only acting role. Throughout her career, Moore earned 40 acting credits, including some as a voice actress.

Moore's first role came in 1961, when she appeared as Thea Moore in General Motors Presents. However, it was then another 10 years before she as back on our television screens, where she played Nancy in Rip-Off.

Over the coming years, Moore appeared in cameos and little-known movies. She continued working until 2017, when she played her final role in Her Magical Christmas.

Currently, there are no details regarding Moore's impending funeral. That information will undoubtedly remain private.
