A Childhood Frozen Pizza Staple Is Disappearing and Once It Sells Out, It’s Gone

The childhood frozen pizza staple has ceased production - meaning while you can still buy it now, soon, it will forever be off the shelves.

We all remember that one childhood food that just screams nostalgia. Something that, even now, no matter how sad or upset or angry you might be, one bite just transports you back to a time where things were a little simpler. Think of that scene from Ratatouille where the food critic gets yanked back into childhood.

It's exactly that type of simple, comforting, warm food that gets most into that nostalgic feeling. And for a certain generation, a frozen pizza is the thing that does it - especially none other than Mama Celeste's.

But, per the New York Post, her long-time reign of frozen pizza has come to an end. The owner of the brand, Conagra Brands, has revealed that they intend to stop selling the legendary frozen pizza.

They said they need to be "accretive to margins going forward". For the CEO, John Brase, Celeste is a "smaller brand" which does not have a "future" - so they're axing it.

"There are certain brands and categories where we simply just don't see a future," he explained. "It just makes sense to exit those small, really unprofitable brands or low-profit brands as soon as possible."

Once the Frozen Pizza Sells Out, That's It

Conagra has now confirmed that the production of pizzas has now stopped. That is pretty dire news for Mama Celeste lovers everywhere - because once it's gone, it's gone. Forever.

"We will continue to sell inventory," a spokesperson explained, "but we stopped producing it." And then, they said the words that act as a death knell - "As of now, there will not be Celeste products once we sell what has been made."

And to say that people on social media are distraught is an understatement. "RIP Mama Celeste," one upset fan wrote. "Those 10 for $10 deals were the pinnacle of the 90s."

Another spoke about just how nostalgic the frozen pizza was for them. "Omg my grandma always had one of these on hand so will forever remind me of her. I haven't had one in years but the nostalgia!"

"My eyes welled up reading this," another confessed. "This was my childhood pizza."
