Australian singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Jedd Hughes delivers a love letter to home on the pensive and beautiful "Back to You" from his forthcoming album West (out on Aug. 30).
Hughes, who began touring Europe at 12 and moved to Levelland, Texas after high school to study bluegrass at South Plains College, says the song was inspired by a night in New England and an old 12-string guitar given to him by Rodney Crowell.
"'Back To You' was written while I was on the road in New England during a night off in a cheap hotel," Hughes tells Wide Open Country. "I had received an old 12-string guitar as a gift and 'Back To You' was the first song inspired by that old guitar. I wrote this song as a love letter home to my family."
The singer previously co-wrote Josh Gracin's "Stay with Me (Brass Bed)" and performed with Patty Loveless on "That's All It Took" from Loveless' 2008 album Sleepless Nights.
West features songs co-written with Crowell, Parker Milsap, Sarah Buxton and the late Guy Clark.
