Following Gunter's disappearance, her family publicly appealed for information about her whereabouts.
Her sister, Kayla, revealed that Kandice had moved to Casper from Nevada just one month earlier to be closer to her two children, aged nine and six.
Kayla explained that her sister's failure to collect the children immediately raised concerns because it was completely unlike her.
"That's why I started freaking out," she said. "It's totally out of character for her not to show up to get her kids."
After authorities discovered her sister's body, Kayla paid an emotional tribute to Kandice, describing her as "a loving, kindhearted person who had such a good head on her shoulders."
"It's not fair and we will get justice for her," she added.
The Casper Police Department and Natrona County Coroner's Office have not released further information about the circumstances surrounding Gunter's death.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash. While the coroner's findings may provide additional details once the examination is complete and officials release the results.
