The iconic frontman of UK soul band Love Affair has died at 76 years old after a long battle with "a chronic illness". As reported by People, Steve Ellis was most well known for the number 1 hit "Everlasting Love".

His tragic passing was confirmed via a post shared to his Facebook

The post's writer also asked fans to leave their "thoughts, memories, or condolences for the family in the comments" of the post. "Everlasting Love", they finished their post, in reference to the number 1 song.

The beloved singer got his start when Love Affair was named Soul Survivors - he was just 16. The band enjoyed a lot of popularity over the years, enjoying other top 10 singles like "Rainbow Valley", "A Day Without Love", and "Bringing On Back The Good Times".

However, Ellis left the band back in 1969, continuing on into solo ventures like Widowmaker where he experienced moderate success.
