Some crimes are so brutal and senseless that they are hard to comprehend or even hear about. One of them allegedly happened in New York City on Friday, October 30. According to The New York Post, Katie Suarez, 28, a bank teller, was jogging "along the Belt Parkway westbound toward the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, sources said." In what appears to be a random and vicious attack, Suarez was stabbed two times in the neck. Now, Suarez is in the hospital, reportedly on life support. The search for her assailant is apparently ongoing. ABC7 Eyewitness News states that scuba teams, drones, and K9 units are being used in the investigation. There is also reportedly a reward of up to $10,000 for information in the horrifying case.

In yet another painful and tragically ironic circumstance, Katie Suarez had talked to her dad in the phone shortly before the violent attack.
What Led up to the Attack
Per the outlet, Katie Suarez met her mom after work. That was about 6:30 p.m. She was employed at the TD Bank "in the Bay Parkway shopping plaza in Gravesend...." The two were waiting for Suarez' dad to join them. In the meantime, she went for a run. Her dad eventually came along and phoned his daughter at around 8:00 p.m.. She allegedly said she was a short distance from him and her mom. When Suarez did not show up fairly soon, per the outlet, her father called her again, but she did not answer.
Concerned, her mom and dad separately went looking for her. Her dad finally found Suarez very badly injured and implored a passerby to dial 911 for immediate help.
A neighbor regretfully told The New York Post, "It's very sad. I'm sad for everybody, but this is close. It's too much right now. It's a mad world."
