Helme announced his decision to step away from the stage on Saturday via Instagram.

"Hi everybody," he wrote. "As you all know, my health hasn't been great of late. So after having many conversations with my doctor and my medical team, they've told me that I need to take the rest of 2026 off from touring and traveling, and spend my time recuperating and recovering so that I'm fighting fit for 2027. The gigs will be rescheduled for next year."

"Please believe me when I say I can't wait to get out and gig again," he continued. "This situation is less than ideal, but I won't be wasting my time twiddling my thumbs, sat in front of the TV scoffing chocolate," he continued. "I'll be in my studio making new noises for new projects. See you all next year and thank you all for your support."

Rock Bottom Promotions also issued a statement after Helme announced his forthcoming break.

"I just wanted to send him all of our love and wish him a speedy recovery," the post read. "I have spoken with him a few times over the last week or so. He is very eager to kick through this and get back on the road in '27 with new music and fine health!"

Helme was the former frontman of The Seahorses before branching off into a solo career.

The 55-year-old singer is not the only vocalist taking a break due to health complications. Lionel Richie underwent a heart procedure in September that sidelined him from his tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.

"Lionel underwent a common procedure for Atrial fibrillation (AFib)," Richie's rep said in a statement to E! News Sept. 22. "The doctor said everything went perfectly. Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon."

The procedure follows two instances in which Richie appeared winded during his shows.

Richie plans to resume touring on select dates this winter.
