Ian Gillan, the beloved singer of rock band Deep Purple, has been hospitalized. As reported by The Independent, this has led to two shows being cancelled.
Details were scarce as the band announced the cancellations on their social media page on Saturday, October 31. "With great disappointment," they wrote, "Deep Purple must announce they are unable to perform as scheduled tonight."
The two tour dates were in Leipzig (the QI Arena) and Hamburg (the Sporthalle)."We understand that this announcement comes at short notice," they explained. "And [we] share the disappointment of all our wonderful fans that we are unable to perform."
They added that "Deep Purple and their team are focused on finding a suitable time to reschedule both these shows."
The beloved rock band did not provide many details as to Gillan's condition. However, they wrote the cancellations were "as a result of a medical emergency involving Ian Gillan". They confirmed that it "has resulted in his current hospitalization".

This Comes After the Rock Band Hinted That This Reunion May Be Their Last
The unfortunate hospitalization of the rock singer comes amid a reunion that no one expected.
The former guitarist for Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore, previously said that their reunion tour "could be the last time we see each other". His exit from the band came in 1991 - but he came back to perform with them in August.
"I woke up one morning thinking, the day before their show, 'You know, it would be good for the fans if I just got up for one song, probably 'Smoke', and just show that we're not at each other's throats and don't hate each other," he explained, per The Independent.
He also explained that it was his wife, Candice, who got the whole thing up and running. "[She] got me in touch with Ian Gillan and I said, 'What do you think about me getting up for 'Smoke?' His exact words were, 'It made me smile.' He then put it to the band and it was thumbs-up all around."
We hope that the beloved rock singer recovers soon and pray it isn't serious!
