NFL Star Hospitalized Mid Game After Coughing Up Blood Makes Shocking Return

Football players are some of the toughest people on the planet and have played through some pretty gnarly injuries, especially at the pro level.

Legendary wide receiver Terrell Owens famously recorded nine catches for 119 yards in Super Bowl XXXIX just two months after breaking his leg.

In 2008, Chargers alum Philip Rivers played in the AFC Championship three days after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL.

During the Thursday Night Football matchup on Oct. 29, Packers wide receiver Christian Watson gave a whole new meaning to "football tough" with his gutsy performance.

Watson began the game with six catches and 100 yards before being knocked out of the game with a chest injury.

The Packers wideout, who was diagnosed with a broken rib, said that he

"I was spitting up some blood or something like that. The doctor said I had to go get a CT," Watson

Watson said he would always play through pain if he possibly could.

"Before I even left I wanted to get back out there," Watson said. "This means everything to me. To be out there on the football field. I've had injuries I was not able to go on the field for. I've missed significant time due to injuries. So any chance I get to go out there on the football field, I'm going to be out there on the football field."

NFL Star Returns From Hospital to Finish Gutsy Performance

For most people, a broken rib would lead to an overnight hospital visit, at minimum. Watson, however, even after coughing up blood, returned to Lambeau Field to finish the game.

Not only did he return, but he also snagged two more catches in the Packers' 28-17 victory.

Talk about a warrior's spirit.

"I think it's incredible," Packers safety Xavier McKinney said. "I think it shows resiliency, I think it shows toughness and I think it just shows the love that he has for this team.

After the game, Watson shrugged off his improbable return and explained his philosophy.

"If you can get up, you've got to get up."
