Defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was arrested on Friday after allegedly sending threatening messages to an officer who had previously arrested him.
Kirkpatrick was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail before being released on a $600 bond.
Alabama Football Player Arrested Over Alleged Harassment of Police Officer
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed on Tuesday that Kirkpatrick had been dismissed from the football program following the latest allegations.
"After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program," DeBoer said in a statement.
"He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players."
According to the allegations, Kirkpatrick sent threatening messages to university police officer Christopher Fuerch, who had previously arrested him.
"Ayy bitch ass n****? Text me back don't be no bitch!" one of the alleged messages read.
Kirkpatrick Previously Arrested Following Police Pursuit
The latest allegations stem from an earlier incident in November 2025, when police attempted to stop Kirkpatrick's vehicle in Tuscaloosa.
The football player allegedly fled from officers before authorities charged him with reckless endangerment, speeding and eluding police.
Alabama subsequently suspended Kirkpatrick for seven games during the 2025 season following the arrest.
According to the latest allegations, Kirkpatrick later found Fuerch's Facebook profile. He began sending him messages, prompting the officer to block him.
Kirkpatrick then allegedly shared a photograph of Fuerch alongside his wife and children, adding the caption, "Dis him?".
Fuerch said the social media post caused "severe concern for the overall safety and well-being of himself and his family given the substantial audience and public following Kirkpatrick maintains as a football player for the University of Alabama."
Kirkpatrick is the son of former Alabama standout and NFL defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick, who played professionally for several seasons.
The younger Kirkpatrick also faced a separate arrest in June 2026 on charges of leaving the scene of an accident.
He is scheduled to appear in court in November in connection with that case.
