Catalan emergency services confirmed that 83 people sustained injuries, including seven in serious condition.

Authorities described the remaining injuries as either "less serious" or "mild condition".

Emergency dispatchers received at least 25 calls reporting the accident at approximately 5 p.m. local time.

Regional police subsequently closed a section of the BV-5114 road while emergency crews worked to rescue passengers and secure the area.

Authorities have launched an investigation to establish what caused the bus to leave the road.

Emergency Crews Search Crash Site for Additional Victims

Catalonia's Corps of Firefighters confirmed plans to deploy drones and sniffer dogs to the crash site.

Rescue teams conducted "intensive searches" around the wreckage to ensure they had not overlooked any additional casualties.

Salvador Illa, president of the Catalonian government, expressed concern over the incident.

"I am following with great concern the bus accident in Fogars de Montclus," Illa said.

He thanked emergency responders for their efforts and confirmed that he remained in "constant contact" with Catalonia's interior and health ministers.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross established a reception center at Can Ramis in Sant Celoni to provide assistance to those affected by the crash.

Investigators are reportedly examining whether the bus was carrying too many passengers, including people who may have been standing when the accident occurred.

Officials confirmed that the bus driver tested negative for drugs and alcohol following the crash.

Authorities also scheduled a crane to arrive at the scene on Monday, October 26, to recover the damaged vehicle from the embankment.
