Everyone knows that bots are a pretty big mainstay of the Internet these days. Some days, it feels like you can't go five minutes without encountering one... AI, or even just an algorithm!
And one unfortunate way that it's just making our lives darn worse is through scalping. For the uninitiated, scalping is where a large number of tickets (or items in general) are purchased by people looking to resell.
It's particularly annoying, as if the scalpers grab a lot of high-price items, they normally sell them for a lot more than they purchased them for.
And country star Garth Brooks has been feeling the pain with this one recently. As reported by Whiskey Riff, he ended up needing to shut down ticket sales for his upcoming Kansas City show.
The tickets were for his Blame It All On My Roots arena tour, which came as a return to form for the country star. But what was certainly not on form was the sheer number of "people" looking to attend his show!
His team was first to take to social media to explain the whole debacle. "Due to excessive bot activity, ticket sales for Garth's third show in Kansas City have been shut down," they wrote. "Garth and the promoters are evaluating next steps and the future of the show."
It's not exactly clear what that means. "Next steps" and "future" imply the whole thing may not even happen. They added, "We appreciate your patience and will share updates as soon as possible."
