Elvis Presley used to call pop star's home, but he didn't want to speak to him. He wanted to talk to his mother.

This pop star remembered how Elvis Presley used to call his home. However, the King didn't want to speak to Donny Osmond. Rather, he wanted to talk to his mother.

Why Did Elvis Presley Call This Pop Star's Mom?

The 68-year-old Osmond spoke about the phone calls from Presley on the BBC Radio program Sara on Breakfast. The "Soldier of Love" singer said that Presley was fond of his mother because "she reminded him of his mom."

"And so one day he called the house, and the phone rings, and my brother Alan picked up and said, 'Hello?' and he hears, 'Is your mother there?'" said Osmond. "He said, 'Yea, who's calling?' 'Oh, this is Elvis.'"

"He didn't put two and two together," he added. "He said, 'Mom, some guy named Elvis is on the phone for you!'

"But he was a really nice guy. This guy, you know, this sweet and gentle giant backstage. And onstage: watch out."

Donny Osmond Had His Own Conversations With Elvis

In a PEOPLE interview last year, Osmond also talked about his conversations with Presley.

"I remember when we were talking to Elvis one day, our family even, he said, 'If I could do it all over again, I'd get closer to my fans,'" said Osmond.

"I was 14 at the time when he said that," he added. "And it really, really influenced me that a guy this big, you know, the King of Rock and Roll, says he wishes he could get closer to his fans 'cause he was so isolated. That's one of the reasons why I do it, because that came from the King."

Osmond would know something about fans and fame. He and his brothers formed The Osmonds in the late 1950s. Donny joined the group in 1963, and the group made their rock debut in 1970 with the hit "One Bad Apple." Donny then launched his solo career in 1971 with the song "Sweet and Innocent."
