The sandwich chain announced the return of the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub.
Last offered in 2014, the sub will be available for a limited time. The sandwich features rotisserie-style chicken marinated in enchilada sauce, crisp Fritos corn chips and smoky Baja Chipotle sauce, with Monterey Cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and red onions.
The return of the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub was not Subway's only announcement this week.
Hoping to avoid a potential overlap with midterm elections, Subway announced plans this week to hold its own National Sandwich Day on Oct. 27 instead of Nov. 3.
"We weren't going to let National Sandwich Day become an afterthought," said Jeff Klein, Chief Marketing Officer at Subway. "Especially with the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub making a comeback that our fans and franchisees have been asking for. So, we're giving sandwiches their own day in the spotlight, one week early. Consider this permission to listen to your SUBconscious. Apparently, it's been asking for Fritos."
Subway Brings Back Dessert Item, Offers New Promo
The Fritos-laden sub is not the only item returning to the menu.
Subway revealed that the Caramel Apple Cookie, last offered in 2021, is also back on the menu for a limited time.
Additionally, a free footlong sandwich with the purchase of another footlong sandwich for all current and new Sub Club members, is available Oct. 27 through Nov. 8 through the app and online.
Subway's buy one get one free footlong sandwich promotion comes on the heels of their "Lunchtime Horrors" campaign, in which they offered $15 gift cards to participants who shared stories of undesirable meal purchases.
Jeff Klein said in a statement, "We make sandwiches, not time machines. But we can give people something to look forward to at their next lunch. Feed Your SUBconscious is an invitation to listen to that inner voice that knows what you really want. This Halloween, we're giving Americans a chance to act on it, with thousands of freshly prepared Footlongs on us."
The promotion ran for five days, concluding on Oct. 16.
