According to TMZ, the iconic singer is taking legal action to have his ex-girlfriend removed from a Los Angeles property that he owns.

Stevie Wonder, 76, is suing Carmen Efferson, who he claims has been living rent free at his property for nearly four decades.

Court documents obtained by TMZ indicate that Efferson has lived in the property since 1988. Over the years, the relationship between Wonder and Efferson has soured and the "Superstition" singer said that it's time for her to vacate his pastime paradise.

Efferson is rumored to have once been engaged to the singer. Wonder has been married to Tomeeka Robyn Bracy since 2017. He was previously married to Syreeta Wright from 1970 to 1972, and Kai Millard from 2001 to 2015.

Wonder's legal team allegedly attempted to enter the property multiple times for an insurance inspection and claimed Efferson refused their entry.

Stevie Wonder Files to Evict Ex-Lover

Due to her refusal of entry, his lawyers claim that the required insurance was jeopardized. They filed an eviction notice against her in July 2026.

Efferson was reportedly due out of the home by Aug. 27, 2026, yet remains, prompting the lawsuit.

Efferson reportedly didn't take too kindly to the court filings, and allegedly got in a heated exchange with the Grammy winner's legal team.

In an email included in the court documents, the rent-free tenant accused an attorney of having a "racist cold-blooded 'white male privilege'" tone. Efferson also demanded he stop contacting her in the expletive-laden email.

The team responded with a clarification that the person was neither white nor male. In the lawsuit, the Wonder has requested a judge order Efferson out. The Motown artist is also seeking damages and legal costs.

Wonder is currently on tour for the 50th anniversary of his hit album "Songs in the Key of Life."

The tour, which will see Wonder perform the record in full each show, kicked off Oct. 13 in England. The 18-show trek heads stateside on Nov. 19 and concludes with a performance at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles in December.

Released in 1976, Songs in the Key of Life gave Wonder his third Grammy Award for Album of the Year. The album features classic songs "All I Do," "Sir Duke," "Isn't She Lovely," and "Knocks Me Off My Feet."

The 50-year celebration of the album marks Stevie Wonder's first tour since 2024.
