The Family Was Getting Ready To Go to a Trunk or Treat

As AZ Family reports, Bella Torres was helping her kids get ready for a Trunk or Treat near their home in Buckeye, a Phoenix suburb, on Friday, Oct. 16. Her partner, dressed as Shrek for the event, headed to a store down the street.

Torres thought her partner had come home when she heard the front door alarm go off. Police said it was actually 20-year-old Adrian Ayala. He asked Torres if he could use the bathroom, then lunged at her.

Torres said the two fought on the floor of her kitchen and bathroom. Ayala also assaulted her daughter. The struggle then moved outdoors.

She then hit him and asked who he was and what he was doing. He did not reply. He is then heard saying he is on drugs. Elsewhere in the clip, Torres is heard asking Ayala her partner's name. He did not answer.

Shrek Came to the Rescue

Moments later, Torres' partner pulled up and ran to his wife and Ayala. The suspect then ran from the scene. Torres' partner, still dressed like Shrek, chased him down in the car.

The case is still open, so Torres didn't share much else about the incident.

Court records state Ayala was arrested in his home in nearby Goodyear. He faces several charges, including sexual assault and burglary.

An attorney for Ayala said in court that he was drawn to the home by Torres' partner for some sort of "role play." Torres denies the allegation.

"I've never seen this person in my life. Neither has my partner. He (Ayala) was seen walking around other houses. I just got caught in the crossfire," said Torres.

A woman who called 911 said she saw Ayala on other cameras "pacing back and forth" around the neighborhood. She also disputed the claims that the assault was a role play gone awry.

"I don't think so. She was freaking out. She had all the marks on her neck and body," the woman said.
