Talk Show Icon Reveals She Misses "Being on TV", Wants to Come Back

The talk show icon revealed that she had "nothing going on" in her life, and that she wanted to make the leap back into the TV world.

Do you remember Ellen DeGeneres? Well, if you weren't living under a rock 10 years ago, there's a pretty big chance you do.

The talk show icon graced our screens for a number of years through her sitcoms Ellen and The Ellen Show, before pivoting to the talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She was a household name, with scores of fans tuning in for every episode.

However, that long-lasting reign of 19 seasons of The Ellen DeGeneres Show was cut short amid allegations of a "toxic work environment". She ended up apologizing to her workers following an internal investigation from WarnerMedia.

At the time, per People, she wrote, "On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that the... show would be a place of happiness - no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect."

"Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry."

It's been four years since that fateful day. And the talk show icon has revealed she's keen to get back into TV work. As reported by People, she moved to the British countryside back in 2024, alongside her wife, Portia de Rossi.

The Talk Show Icon Misses It All

She recently appeared on an episode of The Graham Norton Show, where she explained, "I've got nothing going on and I really miss being on TV." She continued, "I miss a lot about it. Laughing with the writers and the audience. I think about doing stuff here."

The talk show icon jokingly added, "I think it is pretty easy to get on TV here. You have a pottery show [The Great Pottery Throwdown], you have a sewing show [The Great British Sewing Bee], and you even have a show about people watching TV shows [Gogglebox]."

This comes one year after she opened up to the BBC about being open to new projects. In July 2025, she explained, "I want to have fun, I want to do something. I do like my chickens, but I'm a little bit bored".

Whether she ends up actually coming back to the TV world isn't set in stone as of yet. However, one thing remains true - it'll certainly be a spectacle if she does!
