White House Slams Country Music Star as "Despicable Nobody" After Donald Trump Comments

The White House took aim at country music star Natalie Maines. This comes after Maines recently spoke out about the president. Maines, 52, who fronts the Grammy-winning group The Chicks, criticized President Donald Trump while performing at New York City's Beacon Theatre on Monday, Oct. 12.

She opened up by talking about George W. Bush. During a 2003 concert in London, the singer publicly criticized then-President George W. Bush over the impending Iraq War, telling the audience she was ashamed that Bush came from Texas.

"We thought that was the worst it could get," Maines told the crowd. "Now I'd give George W. Bush a big wet kiss 'cause now we're ashamed the president of the United States is from the United States."

Her remarks prompted a sharp response from White House spokesman Davis Ingle, who called the musician a "despicable nobody" and accused her of suffering from what he described as Trump Derangement Syndrome.

"Natalie Maines is a despicable nobody who clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted her peanut-sized brain," Ingle told US Weekly.

Her latest remarks came as The Chicks celebrated the 20th anniversary of their 2006 album, Taking the Long Way. Interestingly, this wasn't the first time the White House had used the same insults against Maines.

In May, Ingle issued a nearly identical statement after the singer posted a profanity-filled Instagram message criticizing Trump and his administration.

At the time, she wrote, "Our democracy is disappearing right before our eyes. This fugly s--t is using your gas money to pay the insurrectionists. But don't worry about it. I'm sure posting selfies will fix everything. My last post that called him a fugly s--t got removed. We'll see how long this one lasts. Repost and help spread the message live. The Chicks, which also include Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer, have continued performing despite the controversy that dramatically altered their careers in the early 2000s. As of Friday, Maines had not publicly issued a new response to the White House's latest remarks.
