What makes the matter even more sad is that the victim had overcome a bevy of obstacles before the incident. Whenspeaking with  11Alive's Chase Houle, the victim's family shared that he survived two cancer battles, with his last bout coming in 2018.

He and his daughter also escaped a car fire unharmed three weeks ago.

His death has sparked a conversation about who is liable for the incident.

"This is 100 percent on Six Flags & the children they tried to pass off as ride operators!" one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Imagine all that fighting to be taken out by an OSHA violation," a second user chimed in.

"If you've ever been to the Georgia location, you'll never go twice.  It's terrible!!!" A third user remarked.

In addition to being a father, Kariem was also an educator in the Atlanta Public Schools System. After the news of his passing went public, they issued a statement obtained by the Guardian. In the statement, a spokesperson for APS called Kariem a "cherished member" of their community.

Atlanta Public Schools extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mr Kariem," the statement reads.

"He was a cherished member of the Wesley International Academy and APS families whose presence and impact will be deeply missed by our students, staff, and all those whose lives her touched."

Cobb County Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
