But the former Beatle confessed on the most recent episode of the podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler that there is one person he is "too nervous" to collaborate with.

Who Makes Paul McCartney Nervous?

The 84-year-old McCartney has written songs with everyone from Michael Jackson to Elvis Costello. But if you're waiting for him to work with Bob Dylan, you're going to have to be very patient.

"I get asked [who I want to collaborate with], and I always think Bob Dylan. But I'm too nervous to ring him up," McCartney told Poehler.

Poehler joked that she had a hard time seeing the 85-year-old Dylan on the phone. McCartney replied that he was likely "in some bush, in a sleeping bag, maybe."

Bob Dylan Introduced the Beatles to Drugs

McCartney and Dylan have crossed paths several times. PEOPLE reports that someone on the "Band on the Run" singer's team asked if Dylan could say hello to him at the Desert Trip music festival in Indio, California, in 2016.

"I came in to see him, and it was like, 'Wow.' It was just him and me in this massive, big tent backstage and he was very complimentary," McCartney recalled. "It was funny 'cause... A little bit embarrassing, he said, 'You're a star.' I thought, 'What do you say to that?' 'Well, thank you, Bob. I love what you do.'... Anyway, he's great. I love his music. I love his songs."

McCartney said in a 2020 BBC Radio documentary that the "Blowin' in the Wind" singer was a huge influence on The Beatles. And when the Fab Four met Dylan in New York in 1964, he introduced them to marijuana.

"Ringo [Starr] went back to see him, and then after a couple of minutes Ringo came back in looking a little bit dazed and confused," McCartney said on The Adam Buxton Podcast in 2020. "We said, 'What's up?' and he said, 'Oh, Bob's smoking pot back there.' We said, 'Oh, what's it like?' And Ringo said, 'Well, the ceiling feels like it's sort of coming down a bit.' And we all sort of dashed into the back room to partake in the evil substance. And it was quite an evening. It was crazy. It was very fun."
