Country Singer Claims He Recorded Every Album in Just Five Days

The country singer revealed that he doesn't do "laptop music", he does "country music" - and that involves a lot of efficiency in every album.

Music is often called a labor of love. That being, it takes a lot of time and effort to truly get something spectacular. Think about it - there are so many tiny little stages of music that often go underrepresented.

First, you obviously have the big ones - the creation of the music itself, the lyrics, the singing, the playing of the instruments. But then there's the mixing, the mastering, the compiling, the marketing.

And all of that is even forgetting about the actual releasing of the music on music platforms worldwide.

But some seem to have reached a point of nirvana when it comes to music writing. And, if he is to believed, country star Walter Wheeler Jr. is one of those people, per Whiskey Riff.

He's known for his no-frills, no-nonsense approach to his songwriting. He says things as he wants to say them, with no filter. And that's garnered him a reputation as a kind of joke artist.

But, according to his philosophy, he's the best type of artist that there is - and everyone ELSE is the joke. For him, part of that does in fact come down to his music writing process.

The Country Star Gets Every Album Done Quick

"I've got buddies that take six months to make an album," he explains. For him, and his longtime collaborator Dave Cobb, that sounds like his worst nightmare. "Every one of my albums has taken five days," he revealed. "And that's with all the over dubs and everything... we have a finished album in five days."

Sounds like a pretty intensive work regimen, right? Well, they "record three songs a day". He then goes on to reveal exactly how - "Cobb was, 'one, two, three, four' and the band plays, and we take the best take."

That lack of perfectionism is something Wheeler thinks "the music industry is changing for the worst". He adds, "You can't fake that with AI. It's four guys, maybe five, in a room, playing live. [Some bands] are building tracks - they're putting electronic drums, electronic guitar, they're making beats."

And, all above all? He says, "I don't make laptop music. I make country music."
