Berry's Daughter Comes to Defense Amid Abuse Claims
Days after the complaint was filed, Aubrey filed her own declaration defending her mother. In a copy of the court docs obtained by PEOPLE, she says that she "never observed anything abusive about her parenting."
Nahla also said that Berry is a "loving and devoted parent." Sxhe did admit that her parenting style can be"strict when necessary." But Nahla added that overall, Halle is "warm, supportive, and deeply involved." She also said that Halle has the expectation for her children to "follow the rules and be respectful."
Halle's daughter also said that she has never witnessed Berry abuse Maceo.
The complaint states that last Sunday (September 26), Berry "physically abused" Maceo by "jumping on him, putting her hands around his neck and choking him." Halle was hit with a temporary restraining order during the legal process.
However, Nahla maintains that she has never seen Berry physically abuse her brother.
"I have never seen my mom place her hands around Maceo's neck, put him in a chokehold, restrict his breathing, or engage in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her," Berry's daughter stated in the October 3 filing.
Nahla also acknowledged Berry's efforts as a mother. She also said she has always made time for them despite her hectic schedule as a star actress.
"She attended his games, drove him to practices and tournaments, and advocated for his education and access to medical treatment and therapy," she wrote. "She celebrates our successes, supports us through challenges, and is always there when we need her."
Martinez is seeking to gain full custody of Maceo.
