Michael Douglas Gets Tense While Denying Decades-Old Sex Addiction Claims

Michael Douglas is one of Hollywood's most accomplished and admired leading men. On screen, he has wooed the likes of Sharon Stone, Kathleen Turner, and Glenn Close in steamy films like Fatal Attraction and the sensuously noirish Basic Instinct. Douglas, 82, son of legendary star Kirk Douglas, is now promoting his memoir, One Helluva Ride. While doing so with The Sunday Times of London, the star got kind of grouchy when the topic of his alleged sex addiction came up.

A Reporter Wondered About Douglas's Prior Romantic Life

The Sunday Times reporter asked Michael Douglas about having to break things off 'with five women" to continue his relationship with his present wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones. They wed in 2000. The actor allegedly stated, "No, no, it's not what it was." He clarified the point by adding,  "What Catherine said is, if we're going to continue this, then I want it to be monogamous. And so I therefore, that evening, you know, made some calls to some people I was seeing, and that was that."

He Allegedly Denied That He Was Involved With Many Women

Douglas feels that he wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary when it came to his dating life back in the day. He told the Sunday Times reporter, "I was a healthy product of the '60s. My curiosity is why, of all countries, of all the press that I do, why are the Brits so consumed with the issues of sex?"

Per Page Six, he also scoffed at "a decades-old rumor that he went to rehab for sex addiction in the '90s, claiming the report 'wasn't true.'" Furthermore, Douglas explained this. "A British tabloid editor came up with this story, which, thank you very much, here we are talking about at 82. It happens with the tabloids and, well, I won't blame your country alone...It wasn't true."

He allegedly also squashed the sex-addiction rumor in his book. However, Douglas recently came clean about a long-ago relationship with actress Kathleen Turner. She starred with him in Romancing the Stone. They also shared the screen in The War of the Roses.
