Chad Lowe, the brother of actor Rob Lowe, his wife Kim Painter, and their entire family endured a terrible and shocking loss a few days ago. Their daughter, Fiona, who was 13, has died. They issued a statement via People announcing the devastating news on Tuesday, September 29.

The Lowe Family Mournfully Announced Fiona's Passing

The Lowes sadly explained, "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona." She was "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. These past months have surely been a harrowing time for the family, Their home in Pacific Palisades, California, burned down in the massive fires there early in 2025.

The Lowes have two other daughters - Mabel and Nixie.

Fiona's Granddad Posted a Lovely Message About Her

Chad Lowe's father, Charles "Chuck" Lowe, took to Instagram on Wednesday, September 30, to honor his late granddaughter. Lowe kept it very brief. He wrote, "Rest in peace, sweet Fiona." A photo shows her happily swimming in a pool.

Some New Information Has Come to Light About Her Death

According to Page Six, "...Fiona died in a hospital on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The status of the case remains open." The information reportedly came from records from the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner.

Parents at Fiona's School Were Reportedly Notified

Per the outlet, the principal of her school sent an email to parents letting them know of a student's passing. No name was mentioned. The email reportedly said, "It is with deep sadness that I am calling you to advise you of the death of one of our students. Our sincere condolences go out to the student's family, friends and teachers."

Counselors were on hand for anyone at the school who needed emotional support during the difficult time.
