SNL Star Says He is In The Process of Getting Nearly 200 of His Tattoos Removed

Most celebrities have a signature look. But Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson is a true one-of-one. Baggy clothes, shaggy hair, and a gently worn pair of Converse sneakers have become synonymous with Davidson's silhouette. But perhaps the most distinguishing part of his look is his assortment of tattoos.

Pete Davidson Reveals Plans to Remove Tattoos

But in a new interview with Variety, Davidson revealed that his body art would not be a part of his look for much longer. The actor revealed that he plans to get nearly 200 of his tattoos removed.

He told the outlet that he initially got the tattoos to cover up his scars when he used to harm himself. But now that he is a survivor, he no longer has scars to hide. He also says that they have become a nuisance to his on-screen career.

"One, they were f****n' horrible," he cracks. "Two, it was a business decision. I hated coming into the makeup trailer three hours early to spray-paint over horrible fuckin' tattoos. And third, I was like, 'I'm not this dude.' I got these when I was in an immense amount of pain, and I was trying to show people my pain."

However, there is at least one tattoo that Davidson plans to keep. That being the one of famed politician Hillary Clinton.

"She stays. That's my dog. I love Hillary, man. She's awesome and a good friend," he said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Davidson talks about his other struggles. The actor said that he hit "rock bottom" in 2023. After departing from Saturday Night Live in 2022, he said he had a lot of downtime. And in that time, he revisited many of the traumatic moments of his life. This caused him to turn to drugs to cope. However, a FaceTime call with his mother forced him to get back on the right path.

She told me her biggest fear was waking up one day to see on the news that something bad had happened to me," he said. "I reached a point where I couldn't do that to her anymore."

That conversation led to the actor checking into rehab. He says he is now sober and drinks maybe "four beers a year."
