James Launches Probe into Cornell's Handling of Alleged Assault
To bring things up to speed, the accuser, who has chosen to remain anonymous, filed a lawsuit against seven former Cornell University students on September 16. The complaint alleges that she was gang raped by several members of the Chi Phi Fraternity back in October 2024. Doe claimed that she visited the frat house after leaving a party for another sorority. She also stated that she was intoxicated and therefore was unable to give consent.
She also says that the Ivy League did very little to protect her once she made them aware of the allegations.
The filing included photo evidence of a group chat with several of the accused men. Appearing to talk about the encounter while the assault was going on. In one of the messages, members are alerted that there is "free p***y," appearing to invite other frat members to take part in the encounter. In response, another member responds by asking, "Like you can walk in and whip it out?" (via New York Post).
Another message obtained by the outlet, one of the accused males apologizes to Jane Doe for "how things went down."
NY Governor Speaks Out About Cornell Allegations
What's even more bizarre about the story is that Doe claims that after she reported the rape to the University, they did very little to reprimand the accused Chi Phi members. Per the lawsuit, the men were "afforded the opportunity to mitigate their conduct by submitting essays". (via BBC).
