Nashville and Heroes star Hayden Panettiere passed away in August at 36 years old. She was found unresponsive in a Greenville, South Carolina rental property.
In the aftermath of her passing, the famed child actor left behind a daughter. A 12-year-old daughter, Kaya Klitschko, whom she shares with her ex-fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko.
Following her passing, Wladimir is seeking to become the temporary guardian of the daughter's estate. This is according to a petition
No decision on the permanent guardianship over Kaya's estate has been made. That process can take "several weeks," according to the outlet.
Kaya's father expressed concerns about the safety of some of the property contained in the estate. Per the petition, Wladimir believes that there is "a high probability that property belonging to Hayden's Estate may be lost, damaged, or dissipated before a duly appointed personal representative can be in place to protect it."
The petition also notes that potential damage to the estate "directly and adversely affects Kaya, as she is the sole heir entitled to the entirety of Hayden's probate estate."
The petition also notes that federal agents gained access to Hayden's Los Angeles home during their investigation into her death. And that, as part of the investigation, property that belonged to Kaya's estate was removed.
Wladimir also noted that an unnamed person had "gained unauthorized access to Hayden's property" before her passing. He expressed concerns that the person might try to "obtain her belongings. Including clothing worn at public appearances."
After being found unresponsive in the South Carolina rental property on August 16, police launched an investigation into Hayden's death. The Greenville County coroner's office confirmed that the movie star's death was drug-related. Earlier this month, they revealed that she died of an accidental overdose. After taking an oxycodone pill that was laced with fentanyl.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with her death
