Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey have a new comedy series on Apple TV called Brothers. The wacky premise of the sitcom is that the two are intent upon finding out whether they are really siblings. McConaughey's mom, Kay, known as Ma Mac, is played on the show by actress Holland Taylor. However, Harrelson dished to Entertainment Weekly that he was anxious about having Kay McConaughey see the small screen series.

He shared, "I was worried about Ma Mac seeing it. I saw her just as she was walking up the aisle after [watching] it. I said, 'So, what did you think?'"
The real Ma Mac clearly has a sense of humor. She cracked wise about the role. McConaughey said of his mom, "She's been saying leading up to this, 'I don't care what y'all did, I know you've got one problem with the show ... you didn't cast me to play me.' That's my mother."
McConaughey Says His Mother "Loved It"
Evidently, Kay McConaughey heartily approved of Brothers. Her son mentioned to Woody Harrelson per the outlet that "I got the same reaction as you did. She was like, 'I loved it.'" She even gave a thumbs-up to Holland Taylor's interpretation of her. She reportedly said, "She was great. So much fun."
That was a shocker to her son, however. "I'm so surprised that was my mom's reaction," he confided.
His Relationship to His Mom Was Formerly Rocky
A year ago, Matthew McConaughey admitted that he and his mother went through some rough patches. He told People at the time, "I'd say we're closer now." It seems as if in the past, she may have done some oversharing about her famous son.
He also said, "We had about an eight-year period where I had to have short conversations with her on our Sunday phone calls because she was sharing a lot of that information. I'd tell her something on Sunday between son and mom, and Tuesday I'd read about it in the news or see it in the local paper. She couldn't help herself."
It's easy to see why Kay McConaighey might want to crow a bit about Matthew. He is an Academy Award recipient and a stellar star.
